The latest “2018 Edition of Panda Coins,” which has been zealously anticipated by the “panda fans” finally unveils the mystery!
On October 20th, 2017, the People's Bank of China released a public announcement to launch the Standard Version of the 2018 Panda Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins on October 30th. The proof version of gold and silver commemorative coins on the other hand has been issued on December 8th later the same year.
Since its initial debut thirty six years ago, the design of every edition of the Chinese Panda Gold Coin Series each possesses a variety of distinctive features.
The artistic scheme for panda coin series over the years seeks to bring out each individual panda’s noticeable poses and expressions; for instance, on one coin it may shows a panda indulging in a bamboo diet, while another two coins each respectively exhibits a panda at play preoccupied by its own cuteness; and a cub delightfully being cared for by its loving mother panda.
As a lucky charm denoting the agrarian good wish for “favorable weathers for the prosperous harvests of varied crops,” the image of the Hall of Prayer for Good at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing, on the obverse of “the 2018 Edition of the Panda Gold and Silver Commemorative Coins” as before consecutively preserves the traditional Panda series’ preceding design traits.
The reverse of this coin’s features fashionably retains the background composition of “pandas’ homeland.” It also implements a quintessential mintage technique to epitomize the ecological habitat of pandas as China’s celebrated national treasures. While infinitely setting off our creative concept of “Super Cute Giant Pet Panda” this year by contrast, this representation seems to be ostensibly permeating with brisk aura of Nature.
The mintage designer purposely magnified the facial feature of a charmingly innocent-looking panda on the midsection of this coin surface. Concurrently, he accentuated colors of black and white, layers of delicate and vibrant panda fur, the chubby cute cheeks, the eyes, the brows, as well as the credible portrayal of their unique expressions.
The designer used gentle brushstrokes to achieve a vivid, three-dimensional, visual representation, the coin’s surface as a whole echoes an artistic appeal that is both lovely and reassuring.
Year 2018 is the 36th Anniversary of the issuance of Chinese Panda Gold Coins. Numerous collectors over the years-- from the very inception when they fell in love at first sight with Panda Coins, to the past 36 years of good time accompanying each other in the same boat along the journey, every step we took left an imprint for witnessing the companionship between our collectors and the China Gold Coin.
The design of the 2018 version of Panda Coin has been utterly transformed from the general artistic style of its preceding series. A much larger layout of the panda’s facial expression in details hereby presents an unprecedented vividness.
The panda’s look on its face has become the main focus of this version. At first glance, it may even remind us of a cute infant panda taking a selfie. The “close-up portrait” version of this design brings out the panda's cuteness and affinity. Isn’t it just strikingly handsome, fascinating, and super adorable?
