The People’s Bank of China is to issue a series of 2017 Chinese Ding You Year (Year of the Rooster) gold and silver commemorative coins on November 16th 2016. The program consists of 17 coins, with 10 in gold and 7 in silver, all of which are the legal tender of the People’s Republic of China.
I. Designs of the Coins
i. Obverse Design
The common obverse of the gold and silver commemorative coins features the national emblem of the People’s Republic of China, auspicious design of lotus and fish symbolizing a surplus year after year，the title of PRC and the year date.
ii. Reverse Design
10kg round gold coin bears the common reverse of an image of a lifelike rooster in the foreground and a decorative design of the rooster as the background, the face value and the words “Ding You” in Chinese.
II. Specifications and Mintage of the Coin
10kg round gold coin is proof in quality, 180mm in diameter, 100000 Yuan in face value, 99.9% in fineness and contains 10 kilograms of pure gold. The total mintage is 18 pieces.
